What I ordered & my thoughts:
Shakshouka (₱265): Definitely the star of the show! The steaming hot, rich tomato sauce packed with eggplant, runny egg, and melted cheese is super comforting and perks up your appetite instantly. Just eat the sourdough quickly, it gets pretty hard as it cools down!
Hipster Chicken Sandwich (₱280): A solid upgrade from your standard chain-cafe chicken pesto, but not quite mind-blowing. The chicken was a bit dry and the sauce was average, though the chewy bread and fresh veggies still gave it a great, crisp texture.
Happy Plate (₱320): Pretty standard local comfort food with a nice balance of meat and veggies. It looks fantastic on the table, but it's not the best value for money.
Butta' Chicken Masala (₱280): The curry flavor here is spot-on and super authentic! They could be a bit more generous with the chicken portion, though. Serving it with both rice and a couple of bread slices makes it feel a little heavy on the carbs.
Butter Croissant (₱100) and Baguette (₱70): Both were solid! The croissant was especially nice, with a lovely buttery flavor and crisp layers.
Chocolate Kamote Donut (₱75) and Pan de Coco (₱18): These might not be for everyone. The donut’s texture was pretty unusual, dense and soggy, with a sticky mouthfeel that almost felt like eating wet bread.
Spanish Latte (₱160), Mango Fizz (₱140), Watermelon (₱140): The drinks were pretty ordinary overall.
Overall experience:
We came on a Saturday morning and it wasn't overly crowded yet, though seating was already getting a bit tight. It was a little bit hot inside, likely due to the tin roof structure.
There’s no service charge, so it’s fully self-service, including clearing your own table after eating. If you’re seated in the raised seating area up the steps, navigating the steps with used plates to the return station is a little inconvenient.
Service is functional, staff will answer your questions, but don't expect a particularly warm or attentive vibe.
My review:
If you’re a big fan of fresh bakery items and already holidaying nearby, it’s definitely worth stopping by for their croissants. Otherwise, it might not be worth a dedicated trip.
