Yum Yum BBQ 羊不同延边烤串
Total bill: ₱1,955
Cost per person: ₱977.50 (No service charge)
What I ordered & my thoughts:
BBQ Skewers (₱875 for 13 Skewers): Authentic Xinjiang-style BBQ with the option to order a single skewer or in sets (like 10 skewers). Once you make your selection, the skewers are brought straight to your table. Each table is already set up with a pre-heated charcoal stove and an automatic rotating grill rack. All you have to do is place the skewers on the slots, and they spin and cook themselves automatically, which is incredibly convenient! Once grilled to perfection, you dip them into their signature seasoning powders (available in Sesame, Spicy, and Extra Hot). Every bite is piping hot, beautifully juicy, and bursting with rich, savory flavors. Must-try items: Lamb, Yellow Beef, Chicken Skin, and Chicken Claw Meat.
Fry Noodles (₱280): A classic Chinese street-style stir-fry. These noodles are tossed with Chinese instant-noodle-style sausage, fresh vegetables, and eggs, resulting in a deeply aromatic and comforting dish.
Yanbian Cold Noodles (₱300): An authentic Yanbian specialty with the same refreshing, icy style as traditional Korean cold noodles. Served in a chilled broth topped with apple and beef slices, the portion is incredibly generous. Pairing these tangy, ice-cold noodles with hot, sizzling BBQ skewers creates the ultimate refreshing contrast to reset your palate.
Crispy Fried Pork (₱320): While it looks like a standard battered fried pork dish at first glance, one bite reveals perfection. The exterior is flawlessly crispy, locking in incredibly tender and juicy meat on the inside.
Lettuce (₱80): Ordered à la carte, this is the perfect refreshing choice to pair with the BBQ if you want to balance out the spicy side dishes.
Lychee Juice (₱100) : A classic, refreshing street-style soda.
Overall experience:
Excellent four complimentary side dishes with free refills (kimchi, pickled radish, and peanuts) that cut through the grease, plus free classic Chinese ice pops at the end for a perfect palate cleanser.
Spacious seating (two of us got a four-seater table) and fast service, with huge portions for the main staple dishes. Warning: The tabletop charcoal stove gets incredibly hot, making it uncomfortable to sit close or lean over to eat.
Highly popular! Arriving at 6:00 PM, we waited 15 minutes for an indoor table (chairs and free lemon water provided). By 7:30 PM, the line outside was massive. Do note that parking nearby is extremely difficult, and the street gets heavily congested.
The restroom was very dirty. There are no other options nearby, so try your best to avoid using it.
My review:
For BBQ lovers, this place offers a fresh, fun experience that is definitely worth a visit! The flavor of the Xinjiang BBQ is truly unique, especially when paired with their signature spices (like cumin), it was a wonderful surprise for someone tasting it for the first time.
